Woohoo... Last week, besides having our weekly Biomedical Sciences badminton session on Friday, we organised an extra one on Wednesday, specially for Mr. Poova, our very own Statistics, Physics and Mathematics lecturer! =D
Mr. Poova in sportswear!
I was honoured enough to be able to team up with him for a game against I-can't-remember-who Hwei Ming and Min Yuan the pro who always like to bully me. Kekeke.
As the noob me had a big bruise on my right wrist and a deep blister on my right pointer finger, I couldn't pay full attention in that game at all and thus have to rely on him to cover our entire court. Kakaka. As if I can play very well without all these injuries lar. =P
But still, after a real powerful jumping smash by Mr. Poova...
We won the game! Kekeke. Nenenenepupu~ =P
P/S: ARGH~!!! My mouth hurts like hell now. Please don't laugh at me. But I think my wisdom tooth is growing. ='(
So yepz. I went to Bangkok Jazz Thai Bistro last last last Saturday to catch Wilson Quah & The ARECA Ensemble in action.
A very special thanks to Jonathan who is always so kind to fetch me around watching live gigs, hehe, and also to Jeffrey and his friends who are all very friendly people. =)
Wilson Quah & The ARECA Ensemble are from Penang. They came all the way down to KL to celebrate our National Day with us for three days at Bangkok Jazz. Hehe. It was already their last night there on the 1st of September, the night I went.
Too bad I didn't manage to capture the drummer in this shot. =(
The ARECA Ensemble comprises of the none other than Kelvyn Yeang on guitar. This guy here from Ocean Of Fire needs no introduction I suppose. Haha. But I must add this, it was really a brand new experience to watch him playing jazz. Coolness!
Kelvyn Yeang on guitar!
Next, we have Jonathan Yee on saxophone. Although I know nothing about saxophone, but I truly enjoy the way he expresses himself through music.
Jonathan Yee on saxophone!
Then, we have Frankie Chai on bass. According to Glacius, he is "the God on basses in Penang". Haha. He seems to play each and every of his note flawlessly, but to be frank, I would personally prefer the more aggressive style of rock bass playing.
Frankie Chai on bass!
Also, we have another member from Ocean Of Fire, Jonathan Scully on drums. He's only 20, but is already a very experienced and talented drummer I would say.
Jonathan Scully on drums!
And lastly, the man himself of course, Wilson Quah on piano. Fuiyoh. Simply an indescribable awesome jazz pianist. I seriously have no idea how much musical knowledge is laid beneath his dancing fingers on the black and white keys. Craziness.
Wilson Quah on piano!
Not to forget, we also have guest appearance by Allan Green on flute and saxophone, who is always looking serious in thinking what to play next. The tunes he delivered were all really sweet and nice.
Allan Green on flute!
Allan Green and Jonathan Yee on saxophones!
And we also have another guest appearance by Julian Chan on saxophone. Again, like what I've mentioned above, I know nothing about saxophone. But by judging how cool his instrument is, and how much compliments Kelvyn has given him, I'm sure he is definitely another marvelous player in the team that night. Hehe.

It was really a relaxing night getting to watch all of them play while enjoying my Sex On The Beach. Bwahahaha. Although I don't understand at all what are the theories behind the jazz melodies played, but still, I'm glad I didn't find it boring and enjoyed myself to the fullest there.
Here's a video I recorded while they were playing the jazz version of Ocean Of Fire's Seashell Song. Sorry as my memory card only allowed me to record the guitar and flute solos. Another sorry for the blurry video quality as some settings went wrong during the editing process. =)

A random shot of the music stand. Trying to be artistic? LOLz.
The night then ended with all of them playing a prank on Scully by leaving him alone on stage doing his drum solo. Haha. Scully's facial expression when Kelvyn bade him goodbye on stage was really hilarious man. But anywayz, kudos to him as he really did manage the stage alone very well.
Sorry as this post below needs to be written in Chinese again cause I really don't know how to translate the whole secrets revealed behind this movie in English. =)
This is another prize from the smashpOp Pimps YOU! 3rd edition contest I've won. Have received my cute Smasher character badge two weeks ago. So now, left only the Sony CD-MP3 player and a new blog header. Looking forward to it! =D
By right now I should feel honoured right? But aiyer, I feel damn weird lar, to see my ugly face so high up there everytime I visit his blog, will be there for one month somemore. Brr...
Woohoo... Look at all these smiling faces up there showing off their Advertlets badges, stickers and $$$CHEQUES$$$.
When am I going to receive mine? *sobs*
As you can see in my sidebar next to this post, I've also signed up as a member of Advertlets since I first started this new blog. Oh, and I guess most of you wouldn't have noticed too that there is actually a poll behind the ads displayed there. It's only a very simple survey consists of four very simple questions. So, I hope all of you can do me a small favour by filling it up yea. Thanks in advance! =)

Really can't wait till the day to cash out my money from Advertlets!
So yepz. Since I was back in my hometown last last weekend, I followed Michael to this Merdeka Carnival gig held at Jit Sin Private High School in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. As the title says it all, it was really the noisiest, wildest, rockiest, weirdest and craziest of all 5 Merdeka Carnival legs!
We reached there early in the afternoon but the bands couldn't do their soundcheck yet as there were other activities going on. Sigh. Malaysian timing as usual. =/
Anywayz, after a very late soundcheck, we then went straight out for dinner (lunch plus dinner for some of them) at a restaurant opposite the school with a couple of friends who came specially to support Uglymen.
When we returned back to the hall, Life Station was already on stage playing their last song. We missed a batik fashion show and also a hip hop dance performance.
I quickly prepared my gadget (actually nothing much, only a point-and-shoot camera, LOLz) and got myself in position to start snapping photos again. Hehe.
Can't remember his name, a winner of don't-know-what Astro singing competition.
The crowd that night was really awesome. They cheered the whole night and even shouted for encore after Uglymen ended their last song.
Here's a video of the great atmosphere:
Uglymen - 海阔天空
Spontaneous backing vocals! =D
The night then ended with Life Station leading everyone to sing our national patriotic song - Tanggal 31 Ogos. No photos were taken as I was recording the video which was actually planned earlier to post up during our National Day. Hehe. Thanks to my laziness! But oh well, nobody says you can only be patriotic during our National Day right?
Life Station - Tanggal 31 Ogos
After supper, we then headed home, happily. =)
P/S: From now onwards, all my photos will be uploaded to my Flickr account. Feel free to check them out yo!

Weeeee... I've got my Smasher character badge, one of the prizes from the smashpOp Pimps YOU! 3rd edition contest I've won. Cute right? XD
And woah. I didn't know applying on campus accommodation in the University of Newcastle, Australia, is such a tedious process. Just submitted my 9 pages long of On-Line Application Form, still got one more On-Line Personal Statement Form to be completed, and also, need to find two referees to fill in the Referee Report Forms for me. Whoo... X_x
So yepz. I had my 5th blood donation last month on the 8th of August at Taylor's University College's staff lounge.
This was faked, trust me, not pain at all. =D
I don't know why. But I just love donating blood. Am I weird? Haha.
Very long leh, sleep first lar. =|
I enjoy watching how the big needle is being poked into my vein, and see how my reddish black blood flows out smoothly and slowly into the 450 ml sterile plastic bag.
Hwei Ming! I own your first and second time! (Sorry Val, I mean donating blood lar. =P)
Also, I enjoy the accompaniment of friends doing good deed together, or at least, if they are not prepared for it yet, standing by your side giving you support means a lot to me too.
The new sign of victory? XD
And most importantly, I enjoy feeling refreshed each time after I donate my blood, happy at the same time thinking that I could be saving one's life some day.
Anywayz, after around an hour of blood sucking activity, I went to The Web to meet the rest of my coursemates. While waiting for them to finish their online quizzes which I've done at home, I had nothing to do and since I was deprived of sleep the night before...
Look at what they've done to me! *sobs*
I'm miss sleepy head!!!
Wake me up if you wanna die!!!!! I just donated my blood!!
Sweat to the max man! =_='''''''''''''''''''''''''
P/S: All photos above were taken by Val using Hwei Ming's Samsung Z560 and were edited by me.
Updated: Please click here for Hwei Ming's version of our blood donation.
